Chief Guest Nalaka Godahewa at the Inauguration of the 150th Anniversary
19 March 2022
Colombo Malay Cricket Club was celebrating its 150th Anniversary on 19th March 2022 and I was happy to be invited as the Chief Guest of the event.
“It’s the rich ethic, religious and cultural diversity that makes Sri Lanka a very colorful nation. Now that the peace has returned to the country after years of ethnic and religious conflicts, we have got an opportunity to live in harmony once again respecting each other’s differences and allowing every Sri Lankan to live in dignity in their homeland.
Malay community is one of the most peaceful and friendly communities amongst Sri Lankan brotherhood. Over the years, this community has produced a number of well known personality who contributed towards the betterment of the country in different fields. Amongst them were famous politicians, professionals, artists, sporting personalities and military officers. During the internal war against terrorism the Sri Lankan Malay community lost several brave officers who were serving in the front lines”
The event was also graced by the High Commissioner of Malaysia and the Ambassador of Indonesia.
